Come and spend your Spring Break in Houston this year! Spring break is a perfect opportunity to see the city before the heat hits. Houston has so much to offer from world famous restaurants, miles and miles of hiking and biking trails and enough museums to keep you busy for a week.

Here are 15 ways to spend spring break in Houston without breaking the bank!


1. Smither Park- An awe inspiring, quirky park! Local artist have transformed this ordinary park into a mosaic masterpiece complete with swinging benches and performance stage. Capture Instagram worthy photos and admire all their hard work! Smither Park is open year round from dawn to dusk and admission is free. Located 2441 Munger Street, Houston, TX 77023.



2. Discovery Green- Located at the heart of Downtown, Discovery Green provides a green space for artist exhibits which change frequently. This park offers more than just art and a play land for kids. You can kayak at Kinder Lake, ice skate(during the winter), roller skate in the spring, or find your center at a yoga class on the grass. Check their online calendar for special events! While most events and exhibits are free, some events do have an extra cost.




3. Ride bikes along Buffalo Bayou- Bike rentals are available downtown and are usually pretty inexpensive if you don't have an option to bring your own. Buffalo Bayou runs alongside Downtown Houston with plenty of sidewalk space to ride your bike, run, walk or skate. Buffalo Bayou trail spreads 15 miles with plenty of instagram worthy spots to take a break and enjoy the amazing outdoor life Houston has to offer!



4. Houston's Cistern- While you are downtown check out Houston's underground Cistern. The Cistern is a unique piece of history that was once used as a water reservoir for drinking water. Please note: Hours are limited and children under the age of 9 are not permitted. Cost is only $5 for a 30 minute history tour. Reservations are required for the tour.


5. Downtown Aquarium- Who doesn't love an aquarium? This aquarium is one of my favorites because you can enjoy all the sea life attractions and spend time outside riding their Farris Wheel to soak in the city views. 6. Make a Wish at The Wishing Trees- Have a magical moment writing down your hopes, dreams and aspirations at the Wishing Trees in River Oaks. Everything you need to make a wish is located at the Trees! 3600 Locke Ln, Houston, TX 77027


7. Houston Zoo- Located next to beautiful Memorial Park, the Zoo is an amazing way to spend a day in Houston. The Houston Zoo offers over 15 exhibits that houses over 6,000 animals! For an extra $5 you can purchase an all day pass to enjoy as many carousel rides as your heart desires. 8. Nasa's Space Center- A fun and unique place for hands on learning about Space exploration. See and learn more about collected artifacts and you even get a chance to explore the inside of the Independence Shuttle! 9. Kemah Boardwalk- If you are planning a trip to the Space Center, take a 10 minute drive to the Kemah Boardwalk. Amusement rides and carnivals games are available at an additional price but you can still enjoy the views from the boardwalk of the Gulf of Mexico. Kemah, TX is a beautiful small town and worth the trip even to just grab an ice cream and take a short walk to snap a photo at the Lighthouse. 10. Museum of Natural Science- Plan on spending a day at the Natural Science Museum. This place is huge and has permanent exhibits of Dinosaurs, Egyptians, gems and more! This attraction is included in your City Pass; check out the information below on how to save money during your visit!



11. Children's Museum- An interactive museum for learning and imagination! Our kids loved visiting here when they were younger. The museum offers indoor and outdoor exhibits that will keep you busy having fun for hours. 12. Graffiti Park- Located a couple blocks from the Convention center take a stroll and have a photo op at the beautiful murals. While you're there don't forget your picture with the I ❤️ Houston sign!

13. Houston Livestock show & Rodeo- For 3 weeks in March, Houston transforms into a full out party for Rodeo! See a performance by your favorite artist, ride an amusement park ride, and eat all the carnival food! No matter what your favorite part of a rodeo is, you'll never leave the Houston rodeo disappointed!



14. Take a dip in the Texas shaped lazy river- The Marriott Marquis in Downtown is a beautiful hotel with a heated Texas shaped lazy river. Currently, the pool is only open to overnight hotel guest. However, keep an eye out because at times the Marriott Marquis does open the pool for the public with the purchase of a day pass.


15. Underground Tunnels- The Underground tunnels are 6 miles long and have shopping and restaurants! The underground tunnels are known a myth amongst locals because they aren't well known(but, they definitely do exist)! Check out the map and locations to enter the underground tunnels here.
